Established in 1973 by the government of the Republic of China, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a non-profit organization charged with the goal of elevating industrial technologies and advancing the development of new industries in Taiwan.

The Energy and Environment Research Laboratories(EEL), one of the six core laboratories under ITRI, works on developing and disseminating the energy, resource, and environmental technologies, as required by industries in Taiwan.
